When
exporting my video I clicked on file; export; and then media. It then came up with this box. I chose the
Preset to be HD 1080p 50, because
that’s how many frames I shot in. I then chose my output name as hand On Heart because that is the name
of my production. I exported it to BED1 Media, then put it in my folder.
When
creating my production on premier pro I always saved my work after 15 to 30
minutes, because in this time I did a lot of work my manipulating and trimming
my clips. If the computer were to crash, or the screen were to freeze there is
a possibility that the programme could shut down and I would have lost all my
work. This is why it is always important to save your work.

| Adjusting the RGB Curves |
To make my
clips look more professional, I manipulated them. To do this I clicked the icon
that said ‘Effects,’ and chose what effects I needed to manipulate my images.
In my first scene I chose to blur the first few seconds. I did this by using
key frames and then animated and adjusted the value of the blur to 0, when it
came to focus on the couple, sat under the tree. Secondly, I then sharpened all
the clips. First of all I put the sharpness value up to 62, however I got peer
feedback on that, and got told that it looked unnatural, so to fix it I brought
the sharpness back, so the image looked natural. As well as that I used RGB
curves to brighten and darken the contrast. Using RGB curves helped me gain
more control of the colours in the image, for example; the reds, greens and
blues. I mainly used red and green, due to the red giving the inside scenes a
friendlier, cosy look and the green I used for the scenes outside, to give them
a natural look. However I did not manipulate the images with the colour blue,
due to blue being a depressing and sad feeling, whereas in a majority of my
scenes my talents are happy. Furthermore, I also used the Shadow/Highlight
effect. In the Wedding scene you can see where the sun is reflecting. I used
this tool by creating more shadows, to help create the image into a natural
look. When I manipulated many of my clips, I had to render them so they didn’t
pause unnaturally. At the end of the video, my end scene fades out to white. Due
to it being a wedding scene I thought that white was the best colour to use to
fade out, because white is a pure colour and after weddings couples want
everything to be fresh and brand new, the white symbolises this idea.
Looking back
at my music video now, I believe that I used the correct manipulations to
transform my original unedited clips to a professional quality music video.
To trim clips I dragged them onto the source
page and trimmed them down using the marking
in and out tools. I then clicked
on the trimmed down clip and dragged it onto the timeline, where I arranged all
my footage into chronological order.
The reason why I put them into chronological
order is because in my music video I am telling a story about a couple’s
relationship. Therefore in most of the scenes I shot they had to be put in
using continuous editing.
To import my footage I dragged my cursor
across all my footage files, so that they were highlighted. I then selected
them and dragged them to the project folder. I didn’t have to put the footage
into ‘bins’ in Premier Pro because I had already put them in folders in my
documents. Therefore this saved me time, which I can use for editing my video.
When I clicked on Premier Pro it came up with the start-up menu. I then clicked on ‘New Project’ because I didn’t want to
overwrite someone else’s project. I then called my project ‘Hand on Heart,’ because that is the name
of my production title. Before I clicked next, I had to choose where I wanted
to save my project, because if I didn’t I could of saved it anywhere, and then
when I have to come to look for it next time, it could take me a while to find
my project. Once I had chosen the location and named my project, I then had to
select what pre-set and resolution I wanted it in. I chose AVCHDp50, the 50 stands
for 50 frames per second, as that is what I shot my music video in. I then called the
sequence name ‘Hand on Heart.’
File Management and Reviewing
Footage:
To
manage all my footage I will put it in folders, for example I
put footage from the same scene in a folder together. At first I did not name
all my footage, so when I was in the middle of my project I went back and
renamed all my clips. However, when I went back to Premier Pro I found that all my clips were blank. This was because
I had named the footage which was in the folders. Therefore all the footage in
my project could not link with the original footage. I then had to link back
all the clips to their original footage and eventually restored my Music Video.
When
I do another project I will look back at this mistake I did and remember to
name all my footage before I import in to Premier
Pro.
